In a lively, sun-drenched outdoor and indoor setting, GRAA Level 1 students immersed themselves in a thrilling, practical filming lesson that transformed theory into vibrant reality.

With cameras rolling and scripts in hand, the budding filmmakers eagerly explored the intricate art of visual storytelling.

The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as students confidently adjusted tripods, positioned lights, and rehearsed their scenes under the watchful guidance of their facilitators. Each shot, carefully framed and creatively envisioned, reflected their growing mastery of cinematic techniques and artistic expression.

“It is important to remember the concepts taught in class when directing. Actors memorise your lines and repeat them with precision for all takes for seamless flow when editing the final film,” emphasised Mazwendoda Ndlovu, GRAA trainer and coordinator.

The practical session unfolded like a true film production, complete with passionate collaboration, spontaneous creativity, and bursts of laughter between takes. Students directed, acted, and edited with admirable enthusiasm, blending teamwork with technical skill in a dynamic learning experience showing off their new skills. The once-quiet location was transformed into a miniature movie set, alive with movement and inspiration.

As the sun dipped behind the skyline, the students stood proudly, knowing they had, not only captured footage, but also unforgettable moments of growth and discovery in their filmmaking journey.
