In a touching display of compassion and community support, the Zimbabwe Development Democracy Trust (ZDDT), in partnership with Chematek Lubricants, extended timely assistance through their Business Social Scheme to two struggling families in Nketa 9.
The initiative, aimed at providing emergency funding to vulnerable households, brought much-needed relief to Portia Chigora, a resilient single woman courageously caring for ten orphans, and May Mahlangu, a frail 98-year-old man battling dementia and other age-related illnesses.
The atmosphere was emotional and heartfelt as the families received their support, their eyes glistening with gratitude and hope. The gesture not only addressed immediate needs but also rekindled a profound sense of dignity and belonging within the community.

The ZDDT and Chematek partnership continues to demonstrate how meaningful social responsibility can transform lives quietly, yet powerfully.
Portia expressed her deep appreciation, explaining how the funding would help her provide nutritious meals and essential supplies for the children under her care. Neighbours looked on as May Mahlangu, with visible frailty but a gentle smile, was surrounded by compassionate volunteers ensuring his comfort.
“Thank you ZDDT and Chematek for remembering those in need in our communities. Your thoughtful contribution goes a long way,” commented Councillor Ndlovu. Through this heartfelt initiative, ZDDT and Chematek once again proved that sustainable development is not just about business growth, but about human kindness, empathy, and shared humanity that uplifts even the most vulnerable members of society.
