A recent field trial conducted by ZDDT and Hlanganani market garden has drawn attention from gardeners, showcasing noteworthy developments in potato production practices.

The comparison, conducted over the growing period, offers fresh insights that could influence how farmers approach crop protection and yield improvement in future planting cycles.

A recent potato trial comparing Nature’s Guard-treated and untreated beds has revealed clear differences in both quality and yield, with harvested results showing that treated potatoes were visibly larger and healthier.

Farmers observed that the treated crop had significantly fewer holes, indicating reduced pest damage, while the untreated potatoes were smaller and showed multiple holes caused by pest attacks.

"The treated potatoes were attacked less by pests in comparison to the untreated one. Even in growth, quality and size the treated potatoes are better than the untreated ones” commented T Edward Chikwayi, ZDDT, agri-extension officer.

The findings highlight the effectiveness of the treatment method in improving crop protection and productivity, offering promising insights for growers seeking practical solutions to boost harvest quality and minimise losses.
