Green Gardens Women Burst into Song

With her characteristic warmth and enthusiasm, Mrs. Cynthia Van has begun a series of lively cooking and value addition lessons that are transforming the humble spinach leaf into a source of nourishment, creativity and income.
In a cheerful burst of activity, she demonstrated how the garden’s fresh, emerald-green spinach can be transformed into delicious and nutritious spinach bites; crispy on the outside, tender within and bursting with wholesome flavour.
The air was filled with tantalising aromas as she expertly mixed, shaped, and fried the tasty bites showing gardeners how to turn simple produce into appetising treats ideal for children’s lunchboxes, hearty family meals or enticing snacks for sale.
Her sessions blend practical skill with inspirational teaching, not only in the art of cooking, but also in the business of value creation.
Mrs. Van passionately explained how such healthy, home-grown products can nourish families while opening doors to small-scale entrepreneurship. Her spinach bites became more than just a recipe; they became a symbol of empowerment and possibility.
With every bite savoured and every smile shared, Mrs. Van’s lessons continue to enrich lives, proving that with a little creativity and care, even the simplest garden greens can result in prosperity.
"This has been an eye-opening and helpful process learning to make spinach. My family will enjoy these, and I will be able to make some income making these and selling to my neighbours" said Sikhanyisiwe ‘NaJimmy’ Ndebele, Green gardens committee member and cooking lessons participant.
The women broke out in song, celebrating and appreciating this milestone and newly acquired skills to make nutritious meals and to generate additional income.
