Ester Mlophe (72) woke up to a beautiful surprise visit from ZDDT last week, after she was chosen by her councillor to benefit from the Business Social Credits Scheme (BSCS).

Mhlophe, a grandmother of three, was stunned after this reporter knocked at her door step with a surprise gift of USD 50 from Sally Foundation and Freight Consultants.

In an interview, she said, “You have made me a happy woman today; I was actually sleeping not knowing what the children will eat. I usually go to the councillor for handouts and he has been of great help to my family. I am grateful that I was chosen to benefit. This is a lot of money. It will help me start a small business and buy basic commodities for the month.”

Ward 9 councillor, from Mpopoma Township, Mr Donaldson Mabuto, said, “I am grateful as this has reduced my workload as the councillor. I have also helped other elderly women by getting them contracts for picking up litter in the community and it has helped them a lot. In the next batch I will definitely add Mhlophe.”
