In the warm, fragrant air of Kirimuva market garden in Bulawayo’s west, laughter and the sizzle of hot oil filled the space as Mrs. Van led an exciting and mouthwatering cooking lesson for eager community members.
Twelve women and one man gathered enthusiastically to learn how to prepare coated chicken; humorously nicknamed "the KFC".
With cheerful energy, Mrs. Van demonstrated each step carefully, showing how to season, coat, and deep-fry the chicken to golden perfection.

The participants joined in joyfully, chopping fresh vegetables, stirring mixtures of dressings, and proudly watching their crispy creations emerge from the bubbling pots. The atmosphere was alive with learning, solidarity, and the delightful aroma of shared effort.
"We had a good time learning to make delicious chicken for our families while sharing this meal as Kirimuva family," commented Jestina Siziba, Kirimuva garden member.
When the final pieces of chicken were ready, everyone gathered excitedly around a long table to share the delicious meal; a true symbol of unity, family, and community spirit.
Smiles, laughter, and appreciative murmurs filled the room as they celebrated, not only the food, but the togetherness it inspired. Mrs. Van’s lesson went beyond cooking; it empowered the participants to enhance their daily meals at home and inspired ideas for nutritious, appealing school meals for children.
The day ended on a joyful note, with satisfied appetites, strengthened bonds, and a renewed sense of pride in the simple, beautiful art of homegrown cooking.
