Excitement and anticipation filled the air as the spirit of value addition was warmly revived in the thriving market gardens of Greenfield and Hlanganani.

The gardeners joyfully welcomed Mrs. Cynthia Van, who was introduced to them as the dedicated trainer set to guide their journey in turning excess produce into profitable, market-ready products.

With graceful enthusiasm, she shared her vision of empowering communities through practical, hands-on lessons that would not only reduce waste, but also significantly increase sales and income.

Her presence was received with admiration and hope, as many saw this as the beginning of a brighter chapter for their hardworking gardens.

"I look forward to working with all of you to add value to your produce and generate income from you hard work and I will learn a lot from you," said Mrs Van in anticipation.

Before beginning her training, Mrs. Van attentively toured the lush garden beds, carefully observing the wide variety of vegetables flourishing under the gardeners’ tender care. She noted the abundance of fresh cabbages, vibrant tomatoes, leafy chomolia, and other produce that held potential for transformation into sauces, pickles, preserves and dried goods.

With every stop, she thoughtfully asked questions, listened intently, and shared encouraging remarks, ensuring that her upcoming lessons would be tailored to the gardeners’ real needs.

Her visit not only inspired confidence but also beautifully illustrated the promise of growth, innovation, and prosperity awaiting these resilient and adventurous communities.
