Pelandaba Primary School has turned previously unused land into a flourishing vegetable garden through support from the Zimbabwe Development Democracy Trust (ZDDT) under its High Impact Programme.

The initiative is providing pupils with an opportunity to engage with nutrition, agriculture and environmental stewardship while making productive use of the school grounds.

Rows of healthy vegetables now cover the once barren area, creating a source of fresh produce for the school while giving pupils practical exposure to crop cultivation and plant husbandry. The garden is maintained with the involvement of the school community, which plays a role in monitoring the crops and supporting their continued growth.

The project demonstrates how investment in school-based agriculture can contribute to food security while enriching pupils' learning experiences.

Pelandaba Primary's garden now stands as a practical example of how partnerships between schools and development organisations can create lasting benefits from available resources.
