Nestled in the heart of Bulawayo, the Geraldine Roche Arts Academy (GRAA) is passionately incubating young, imaginative creatives through its meticulously crafted scriptwriting programme, designed to transform raw talent into polished brilliance.

Eager students, wide-eyed with ambition, gather weekly at the Bulawayo theatre where seasoned mentors enthusiastically unravel the secrets of compelling narratives, from gripping dialogue to intricately structured plots.

With painstaking attention to detail, the academy fosters a vibrant, collaborative environment where ideas flow freely, pens scribble feverishly, and creativity blossoms spectacularly.

Mazwe Ndlovu, GRAA coordinator, commented, “The scriptwriting lesson was a resounding success! The students learned how to write a script and understood its format. They already know how to tell stories, so I just gave them guidelines and examples. I divided them into groups to practice, and they did well. They made a few small mistakes, but that's okay. Now they know what a script should look like.”

The academy’s innovative curriculum seamlessly blends traditional storytelling techniques with cutting-edge industry trends, ensuring that each aspiring writer emerges, not just skilled, but uniquely visionary. An enthusiastic student, Brett Mlilo commented, “The script writing training has given me new skill on how to craft a script and I am excited to practise this and display my creativity.”

Under the watchful, encouraging guidance of Mazwe, GRAA’s highly skilled and seasoned trainer, students diligently craft scripts that pulse with emotion, depth and originality; each page a testament to their rapidly growing artistry.

As these young wordsmiths confidently step into the spotlight, the Geraldine Roche Arts Academy stands proudly as a beacon of inspiration, tirelessly shaping the storytellers of tomorrow with unwavering dedication and boundless enthusiasm.
