It was a packed house at the Academy of Music, with four hundred plus in attendance over the the course of two days, as Geraldine Roche Drama (GRD) artists from various Bulawayo arts groups came together to put on a stunning performance of Sound of Music.

The talented cast of performers brought the audience into the world of the von Trapp family, transporting us to Austria as they sang and danced their way through the story. The iconic songs such as "Do-Re-Mi" and "Edelweiss" were performed flawlessly, leading to spontaneous applause from the audience.

The positive feedback on the production has been overwhelming, with many praising the attention to detail and the way each performer brought their respective characters to life.

Janine Kimber Garrod comments "Magnificently put together; you took me back to when I was a young gal; truly magnificent."

GRD Theatre's objective is, not only to showcase traditional artists but also to expose them to other genres of drama, such as musical shows, to enhance their skill set. “We're thrilled to see how these efforts have paid off for all the artists who are a part of GRD programming and proud to see their development over the years," remarked GRD Project Coordinator, Khali Sibanda.

The audience left the theatre with smiles on their faces and hopefully a memory of the play that will last a lifetime. Overall, Sound of Music was a resounding success and the audience can't wait to see what's in store for the next production of GRD.
