Last week, the Geraldine Roche Drama (GRD) crew set out to Matabeleland North to start the knock-out round for groups from Lupane, Victoria Falls and Nkayi.

Five groups competed under the theme, “Internet, Its Advantages and Disadvantages”. They all acted out the theme in uniquely dramatic ways. The group’s stories we based on fake news, online learning, online shopping and banking, online frauds, and cyber bullying.

In a chat with one of the judges, Mr Mapako, said the plays well executed.

“I appreciate the effort of the artists; they showed interest and passion in art.  They had energy and they knew their lines very well, I also liked the diversity in language from Vulindlela. They presented their play in four different languages which, in a way, accommodated almost everyone. This group also did they research because their play was well detailed. However I was a bit disappointed by other groups as their plays showed minimum research on the genre but there is room for improvement,” said Mr Mapako.

GRD centres on using both drama and film production to deliver social messages and advocacy whilst promoting opportunities for youth.
