A quiet transformation is taking root at Maranatha Primary School, where a new initiative is reshaping how learners engage with agriculture.
The introduction of innovative farming infrastructure is opening doors to more practical, hands-on learning experiences. While its full impact is still unfolding, the development signals a promising shift toward improved productivity, better water conservation, and sustainable education.
Learners at Maranatha Primary School, an SDA institution, are set to benefit from improved agricultural productivity following the installation of a high-impact drip irrigation system.
The initiative, supported by the Zimbabwe Development and Democracy Trust (ZDDT), aims to strengthen school-based agriculture by ensuring reliable water supply, enhancing crop yields, and promoting sustainable farming practices within the school environment.

The new system will enable consistent and efficient watering of crops, reducing dependence on rainfall while improving the quality and quantity of produce. School authorities welcomed the development, noting that it will, not only enhance food production, but also provide learners with valuable hands-on agricultural skills.
By integrating practical farming into the school curriculum, the project is expected to foster a culture of self-reliance, environmental stewardship, and innovation among pupils, while contributing to improved nutrition and long-term sustainability within the school community.
