Small Grant, Big Impact: Social Credit Scheme Brings Hope

In the densely populated township of Tshabalala in Ward 21 Bulawayo, where hardship is a daily reality for many, a small yet powerful act of kindness has brought a glimmer of relief.
Through the Business Social Credit Scheme’s (BSCS) emergency fund, generously supported by ZDDT and Chematek, two families received $50 each to help them weather life’s toughest storms.
The support, though modest, arrived at a time when every dollar counts in an economy plagued by soaring inflation and high unemployment.
Patience Alubi (28, pictured above), a soft-spoken mother of seven, lives with her children in a cramped one-room home. Unemployed and constantly juggling the demands of survival, she beamed with quiet gratitude as she shared how the donation would allow her to buy much-needed food.
"I am grateful for this donation; it will help me feed my children," she said, a hopeful smile lighting up her tired face.
Meanwhile, Ackim Kwenda (53), living with a disability while caring for his elderly mother, expressed deep appreciation for the timely aid, noting that the money would help him cover pressing medical expenses. In a place where small gestures make a big difference, this support brought dignity, relief and a sense of being noticed.
