“We did not know anything, but now we know.” These were the words of Talita Dlamini, 75, of Ward 19 in Old Pumula, when she gave her testimony on the ZDDT/Sally Foundation value-addition cooking programme in which she participated together with other 15 Community Action Team members.

Dlamini, who was the eldest of all the participants, said she learnt many things from the training which includes preparing mixed jams together with the required ingredients.

She said she was afraid to come for the training thinking she might fail to grasp the concept because of her age, but that was not to be as she is now more empowered and equipped.

“I will teach my grandchildren what I have received here and they will also teach their own children in future,” said Dlamini.

She said she will ask her grandchildren to read the notes for her should she forget in the future.

“I did not know how prepare mixed jam; we did not know anything, but now we know,” she said.
