With youthful energy and graceful determination, the Level 1 students of the Geraldine Roche Arts Academy are learning to dance to their own drum, soaring higher with every step.
Their recent sessions introduced them to the captivating basics of dance in theatre and the performing arts, blending drama, rhythm, and movement into expressive storytelling.
Guided patiently, the students were taught the importance of breathing and counting, moving rhythmically, and staying in perfect sync.
Each beat and motion became a lesson in discipline and creativity, as they discovered how dance can transform performance into a powerful and captivating art form.
"Dancing is a form of art that I love and love to teach to young people as a storytelling tool and channel for expression,” beamed Calisto, GRAA Level 1 trainer.
The sessions were made even more inspiring by their trainer, a proud graduate and alumnus of GRAA, who spoke passionately about the importance of physical fitness in performance.
With words of encouragement, he reminded the students that a strong and agile body allows them to execute dance moves effortlessly, delivering with confidence and flair.
As the students practised with enthusiasm, their laughter and energy filled the room, reflecting both their excitement and growth. "Today was one of my favourite sessions as I love to dance and have learnt that I can use dance to tell stories," said Mellisa Ndlovu (19) an energetic Level student.
Step by step, they are building, not just their skills, but also their confidence, proving that with rhythm, resilience, and hard work, they can truly rise to new artistic heights.
