The demonstrations are characterised by City work teams, clad in bright orange safety-wear, putting to use recently donated grass and brush cutting equipment and clearing litter at busy banner bedecked road intersections. Such exercises are accompanied by the handing out of flyers explaining activities to the public, while sounding out opinions pertaining to issues surrounding improved service delivery.

Latest in these demos was one that took place at the Hillside and Matopos Roads confluence, next to the main entrance of the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre. The express intention in selecting this site coincided with the country’s premier mining exhibition being held at the Exhibition Centre and was intended to maximise attention not only of passers-by, but also that of exhibitors and visitors to the nearby show-case.

As has become the case in previous demonstrations, huge interest by residents and visitors was shown at this particular campaign that is part of ZDDT’s Local Authority Capacity Building Programme, financially supported by GIZ in cooperation of the German Government.
