Bulawayo - ZDDT’s Sebenzela-Shandira slogan motivated former Ward 1 Councillor Edward Manning, to establish a new organisation, Street Wise Informal Traders Association (SWITA), continuing with what he had learnt from the ZDDT good practices of cleanliness and voluntarism.

SWITA recently teamed up with BVTA, ZINASU and Zim Rights in a street cleaning exercise, leading by example in spreading the message of an environment free from litter.

“I am pleased to announce to the world that I was moulded by ZDDT and, years after I left Council, I am implementing what I was taught. We really need to volunteer for community work,” said Manning.

His sentiments were echoed by those of Michael Ndiweni, of BVTA. “A litter free environment is healthy for everyone and it’s a right for everyone to be clean and maintain cleanliness,” he added.
