Zimbabwe has been top rated in the climate stakes according to the 2009 Quality of Life Index issued by International Living.
_____________Zimbabwe is the place to go if it is perfect climate you are after according to International Living, an organisation that composes an annual ranking on the worlds best countries to live in.
"When deciding on a score for each country’s climate, we look at its average annual rainfall and average temperature…and consider its risk for natural disasters," says International Living, an organisation that composes an annual ranking on the worlds best countries to live in.
The Southern African nation scored 98 points out of a potential 100 on the climate ratings front.
On checking the ranking 3 days previously (Sunday 9 January) Zimbabwe actually scored 100 for climate - but for some reason this has been adjusted lower.
However with an overall score of 44 it is clear that Zimbabwe still has a number of factors keeping the country down, in particular the economy which scored a 0 for 2009.
"We consider interest rates, GDP, GDP growth rate, GDP per capita, the inflation rate, and GNP per capita to determine each country’s Economy score," says International Living.
With an improving economy, slayed inflation and growth rates expected above 4% for 2010 this area is expected to improve.
Other issues that keep Zimbabwe down the list is freedom. Freedom House’s 2007 survey is the main source for these scores, with an emphasis on a citizen’s political rights and civil liberties. The country scored 8 in this category.
Close behind Zimbabwe in the climate stakes are fellow African nations Kenya and Swaziland.
France takes the top overall spot and is thus rated the worlds best country to live in.
