Victoria Falls municipality gears up for Strategic Planning Session
Written by Lewis Jones, ZDDT Field Correspondent Tuesday, 25 October 2011 12:54
VICTORIA FALLS, Zimbabwe – A Budget Review Workshop, in preparation for the Town’s forthcoming Strategic Planning Session, was recently organised by the Zimbabwe Development Democracy Trust, at Victoria Falls.
The event was well attended and took place at the Municipal Offices, in the centre of the town. Council officials, residents and policy-makers took part in the two day session.
A Trust’s representative at the event, Mr. Simon Spooner, noted the excellent level of enthusiasm demonstrated by participants. He added that there was an attitude of openness among attendees, to discuss their achievements and failures. Mr. Spooner said that he detected willingness in the stakeholders present, to improve management of the Town’s affairs, notably, plans to restore infrastructure. He concluded that there existed tangible evidence of enhanced service delivery in this resort destination.
Refuse collection frequency had increased to levels that far exceeded most other towns and cities in Zimbabwe.
The Workshop was financially supported by a long-standing development partner with whom ZDDT enjoys excellent relations.
