Shandira / Sebenzela is a non political, inclusive community driven initiative that invites voluntary participation and encourages local decision making.

The project is facilitating Zimbabweans in developing vibrant democratic, independent and sustainable communities by building democratic structures at community level.

Goals:

  • Develop and facilitate training programs
  • Introduce and support projects and investments, responsive to community needs and with individual benefits
  • Encourage and facilitate social activities
  • Forge peace building, ownership and self belief which will promote harmony and personal dignity
  • Inspire the community to take responsibility for its humanitarian obligations
  • Develop community mapping as a basis for informative decision making
  • Enable communities to document progress and tell “the story of their journey”

Examples of our work can be found throughout the website, briefly they include:

Voluntary work: community cleanups, restoration of community assets

Social activities: Sport and entertainment, public debates, celebrations
