The orange army forges on

BULAWAYO, Zimbabwe – The busy intersection at Gwanda Road and Cecil Avenue in Ward 3 came ablaze recently, with tall banners in the midst of orange clad workers, conducting the fifth in a series of Service Delivery demonstrations, using new grass-cutting equipment.

A young lady lecturer from the National University of Science and Technology, (NUST), approached Trust team members and expressed her excitement in being a witness to the highly visible showcase. “Some time ago, during a programme at the University, I needed information and pictures depicting community based work of the type carried out by your organisation. After being referred to your office, I received an excellent response from the staff there, who allowed me to gain access to the material needed. The project was successfully completed because of this kind gesture. She went on to say; “I’m very excited to see you here with your banners and bright display. It demonstrates a true commitment by you and the City, to making the environment a better place to live in.”

The on-going demos are part of the initial stages in the next phase of ZDDT’s Local Authority Capacity Building Programme, which receives financial support from GIZ, assisted by the German Government.
