Luveve children receive donation
Written by Lewis Jones, ZDDT Field Correspondent Monday, 24 October 2011 12:04
BULAWAYO – A donation of books and toys, aimed at benefiting disadvantaged children, was recently presented to Councillor Israel Mabaleka of Ward 15, Luveve Township. The bequest, made available by ZDDT’s local editor, was handed over to the incumbent through the Trust’s Bulawayo Provincial Development Officer, Mr. Bruce Mtengwa. Speaking during the event, Cllr. Mabaleka said that the gift would be put on display at Luveve Public Library, where the various items will be on hand for use by targeted beneficiaries. He said that these would be comprised of vulnerable children who normally do not have the privilege of such enjoyment and concluded by thanking all those who had contributed to the event’s success.
The occasion fits neatly into various interventions conducted by ZDDT in its inclusive social responsibility programmes channelled through local Councillors. These have, as their core, the ideals and principles based on ensuring a better quality of life for local communities. The activities that led to this presentation, demonstrate a commitment, by the Trust’s officials, to the community they serve.
