Harare Ward Seven Councillor leads community in clean-up campaign
Written by Lewis Jones, ZDDT Field Correspondent Tuesday, 11 October 2011 14:52
HARARE, ZIMBABWE – The Blue Lagoon Shopping Complex, in Harare’s Avondale suburb, was recently selected for an environmental clean-up under the Trust’s SHANDIRA Work for ... Programme.

Ward 7 Councillor, Mr. M. Gapare, together with his C.A.T (Community Action Team), mobilised the local community in order to conduct the exercise. The local leadership persuaded residents to bring along their own tools as a means of complementing those provided by ZDDT. Under the SHANDIRA Work For ... Programme, the Trust had donated tools, cleaning materials and protective wear to the community, through the Councillor.
The Programme, which receives financial support from a long established development partner, seeks to assist incapacitated Local Authorities in the provision of enhanced service delivery through the mobilisation of community work groups.
