ZDDT hosts the Cowdray Park Ward 28 Community Action Team Motivational Workshop.
Bulawayo: This outlying area of the city has suffered a great deal due to the economic meltdown as the 40 – 50 000 residents have very few public amenities, unlike the situation in Bulawayo's more established Townships.
There are no libraries, social clubs and sports facilities and houses are being constructed even without essential services in place.
On the 16 December 2009, it was the turn of Councillor Collet Ndhlovu, of Ward 28, Cowdray Park, with his Community Action Team [CAT], to grace a motivational workshop, at 130A J Tongogara Street, in the city centre, where the ZDDT, has its offices.
The event’s facilitator, Mr. Bruce Mtengwa, pointed out that the training was intended to equip Ward leaders and residents with the finer points about leadership in a democratic dispensation.
He emphasised the importance of the community’s ownership over public amenities and development projects in their areas, adding that these factors were in keeping with the ZDDT’s vision for a New Zimbabwe.
In this popular concept, residents are encouraged to co-operate with elected Councillors and the local authority, in restoring their communities.
